Day 8
After a winning streak with the weather we knew we were in
for rain at some point and boy did we get it.
6 hours of solid downpour, headwind and midges made for a depressing day. Food
at Fort William helped to lift spirits, but not as much as our arrival at Fort
Augustus after 106 miles.
Morag’s lodge provided good quality accommodation and we met up with some of
Gav’s family for food and drink. Gav celebrated being in his spiritual home by
getting Caledonia and California confused and also feeling ill as a result of
booze – we were just being sociable with some newly found friends from across
the pond. Only a fool breaks the 3 pint rule!
